The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has been making waves over the past few years in the International market. Right now, It is currently working on its new upcoming flagship devices, which are the Mi 10 and the Mi 10 Pro.
Recently, Wang Teng Thomas, Xiaomi Product Director, has confirmed the fact that all variants of the Mi 10 series will be equipped with the latest LPDDR5 RAM technology. Therefore, the Mi 10 and the Mi 10 Pro are expected to be equipped with LPDDR5 RAM technology.
Earlier this morning, Micron Technology announced that it had started the mass production of the world’s first low-power LPDDR5 chipset for high-end smartphones. Micron technology also confirmed the fact that Xiaomi’s Mi 10 will be the first smartphone in the world to sport this LPDDR5 chip. But there’s a slight chance that Samsung’s Galaxy S20 series might use this technology first.
If we talk about the performance, the predecessor LPDDR4 RAM can be used for image editing, 4K, and 8K applications. Although, it doesn’t work proficiently with 100-megapixel images, AR games, and high-performance video editing. If you are running 100 apps simultaneously on LPDDR4 RAM, you might see a bottleneck, but on LPDDR5, there will be no such issue.
Xiaomi’s group VP Chang Cheng said,
We value Micron’s long-standing leadership and innovation capabilities in the memory field. Micron’s LPDDR5 DRAM memory has market-leading performance and brings lower power consumption to Xiaomi 10 smartphones. It also ensures better performance and stability. We believe that LPDDR5 will be standard on flagship phones in 2020.
There’s currently no fixed date about when Xiaomi is going to launch the Mi 10 series, but according to the rumors, we might hear something about it in the coming week.
