WhatsApp is going to end its support for Windows Phone and outdated Android versions!

WhatsApp has posted an update on its website stating that from 31 December 2019, it will terminate its support for Windows Phones. This means that after the 31 December, you will not be able to use WhatsApp on your Windows Phone.

In the update, the popular messaging app indicates that the amount of users for Windows-OS is pretty low and unnoticeable, which is resulting in the termination for support of WhatsApp.

This update not only targeted Windows Phones, but it also targeted the outdated Android and iOS versions. WhatsApp has said that from now on it will only support the –

  1. Android Devices with version 4.0.3 and above (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  2. iOS 9 and above
  3. KaiOS v2.5.1 and above, which includes the Jiophone series by Reliance Communications.

Well, this doesn’t mean that devices below the Android version below 4.0.3 or iOS v8 will be unable to use WhatsApp immediately. Unlike Windows Phones, Android, and iOS will be supported even on its outdated versions by WhatsApp till February 1st, 2020.

As the support for Google’s Android OS and Apple’s iOS is tremendous, and the company wanted to alert the respected users to update their devices in order to use the popular social messaging app. One more thing to note is that WhatsApp did not give any time for the termination of support, as much as we know it will be ended abruptly.

So, if you are on a Windows Phone or even an outdated Android or iOS version, we suggest you upgrade your device immediately. If WhatsApp is something that is important to you, whether it be professionally or personally.
