Vivo APEX 2020 with new camera design and 60W Wireless charging!

Vivo APEX 2020 with new camera design and 60W Wireless charging.

As we know, due to the Coronavirus Outbreak, the Mobile World Congress 2020 (MWC) that was supposed to run from February 24-27 got postponed. Due to which many companies were unable to launch their unique smartphones and gadgets.

Although some companies decided to launch their product on an online launch event while the rest of them decided to reschedule or delay the event. Vivo is one of the hindmost and has today revealed its latest concept smartphone in a special launch event earlier today. The name of the concept smartphone is the Vivo APEX 2020.

Vivo was going to show off this concept smartphone at the conference so that the users could get a taste of the under-screen selfie camera, the first-ever gimbal-stabilized primary camera, and of course, the super-fast 60W wireless charging technology.

The design of the Vivo APEX 2020 is really a unique one. There are no speaker holes, charging-port, or even button cut-outs. The Concept smartphone sports a seamless design and relies on the pressure-sensitive buttons to emulate the volume rockers and the power buttons. On the rear, you can see a huge circular camera bump.

The Vivo APEX 2020 sports a 6.45-inch ‘FullView’ waterfall display that builds upon the Vivo NEX 3 design from last year and now have 120-degree curved edges. The Vivo NEX 3 had 88-degree curved edges with no physical buttons. The screen of the Vivo APEX 2020 wraps entirely around the edges due to which you will be unable to see the metal frame on either of the two edges.

Gimbal-Stabilized Camera

On the rear, the smartphone features a 16MP periscope-cum telephoto lens that is rigged with moving elements to offer an actual zooming range of 5x to 7.5x. That means Vivo is not going to use software tricks to provide you with a hybrid zoom feature. Instead, the company packed the lens with two sets of moving lenses (resulting in Continuous Optical Zoom) to switch between the zoom capacity.

But, the biggest highlight of the Vivo APEX 2020 is that 48MP Gimbal-Stabilized Camera, which according to Vivo, provides an increase in stabilization by over 200 percent in comparison to current OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) of today’s standards. You can make super stable videos, and also, you don’t need any additional gear for long exposure night photography.

Under-display Selfie Camera

Just like Oppo and Xiaomi, Vivo has also used the idea to place the camera of its new concept smartphone under the display in its latest smartphone. The Vivo APEX 2020 houses a 16MP in-display selfie camera with a 4 in 1 super-pixel photosensitive chip.

Insanely Fast Wireless Charging

Apart from the impressive camera innovations, Vivo has also worked on wireless charging technology. The battery on the Vivo APEX 2020 is a 2,000 mAh battery that supports up to 60W wireless charging. Vivo claims that the 60W Super FlashCharge wireless charging technology can juice up the 2,000 mAh battery in just 20 minutes, which is really very fast.

The Vivo APEX 2020 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of Storage. The phone supports 5G connectivity and WiFi 6 technology.

The R&D department and the engineers from Vivo have worked really hard on this concept smartphone, but the question lies here is, Should you buy it? Well, if 2,000 mAh battery works sufficiently for you, then sure you can consider it. But sadly, as of right now, the Vivo APEX 2020 will stay a concept smartphone and will not be available for purchase.
