Microsoft’s latest Windows 10 cumulative update KB4515384 released on September 10 previous week bringing several unexpected issues. At first problem with the Start menu and Windows Search which Microsoft acknowledged and they are investing the issue. Later, users started to report issues about the audio, including missing audio effects, and sound volume is much lower than usual. A user on the Microsoft Community forum reported:
After installing the latest update KB4515384, my Intel wireless network card and Intel LAN card have stopped working. Device Manager reports a device error and cannot start it. Deinstalling KB4515384 solved the problem. My Lan card is integrated on Gigigabyte B450 AORUS PRO mainboard, wireless is on PCI-e ASUS PCE-AC55BT. All drivers is app to date.
Another user reported the problem on Feed Hub:
KB4515384 breaks ethernet and wifi adapters on my PC. Appears to create new devices as they’re labelled ‘#2’ and when exposing hidden devices in Device Manager the previously named devices appear. Uninstalling these / new or old drivers do not fix the issues (i.e. “ethernet unplugged” which it is clearly not). Only option was to uninstall this update.
In the meantime, users on Reddit also faced similar issues. A user stated that the update KB515384 broke the Intel NIC and downloading the latest drives and performing a fresh install didn’t resolve the problem. Wifi and Ethernet capabilities got disabled for these users after installing the update. However, for some users, the broken network adapter bug gets fixed by disabling and re-enabling the adapter in Device Manager.
Users also faced problems with the Windows 10 Action Center after the update. The users reported on Microsoft Community that they are not able to open the Action Center after applying the patch. Similarly, many users informed about the broken Taskbar problem. There is another bug that prevents users from opening apps that are pinned to the taskbar.[wpinsertshortcodead id=”bzyqm5d3e04029f48f”]
