Twitter’s reply-limiting feature rolls out to everyone

-

Recently, Twitter unveiled its new reply-limiting feature to iOS and web users that lets you choose who can reply to your tweets. This new feature was available for iOS and web users until now, but today, it has rolled out it for Android users. Hence, making the new feature available for everyone.

Today, the Director of Product Management at Twitter, Suzanne Xie, announced the extensive availability of this reply-limiting feature. She acclaimed that this capability is determined to provide users more control over the conversation they start.

So, now let’s talk about the feature itself. It allows you to set the limit to any of the three types of audiences, which are – EveryonePeople You Follow, and the Only People You Mention. The option to set restrictions will appear when you will try to compose a tweet. Judging by your choice, the applicable labels will appear for your tweet.

Additionally, the reply icon will gray out for users who can’t reply to your tweet. However, they will still be able to view, retweet, retweet with a comment, like, and share the tweet.

According to the feedback and studies conducted by Twitter since the testing phase, the new feature helps some people feel safer and could lead to more meaningful conversations, while still allowing people to see different points of view.

Moreover, the company is currently also working on a new form of label that will let users see tweets easily with these settings. So, we can expect loads of new features from the company in the coming months. Till then, stay tuned for more updates.
