Recently a support document for Windows 10 version 1903 is spotted which mentions Windows Core OS (WCOS) a no. of times. However, WCOS hasn’t been stated in an announcement by Microsoft officially. Surface Hub 2 and Hololens 2 are among the devices which will be powered by WCOS. Windows Latest was the first to spot the support document which mentioned the Windows Core OS, especially even though it was published in April 2019.[wpinsertshortcodead id=”bzyqm5d3e04029f48f”]
The support document is for Windows 10’s primary Windows diagnostics events and fields. This privacy-focused document was published for every latest Windows 10 update. Below the subheading “Common Data Extensions.utc,” the document notes three items associated with Windows Core OS:
- wcmp The Windows Shell Composer ID.
- wPId The Windows Core OS product ID.
- wsId The Windows Core OS session ID.
According to Windows Latest, Windows Core OS mentions were added on April 19, 2019 on GitHub.
The WCOS has a universal base that will work across various devices. It has three flavors Santorini Aruba and Oasis for laptops and foldable PCs, collaborative displays such as Surface Hub 2, and Windows Mixed Reality devices like the HoloLens 2.
