Samsung is allegedly planning to acquire a 600MP camera sensor!

Samsung has a reputation for providing and creating various types of advanced technology devices, and this time they have decided to crank it up a notch. The South Korean giant is planning to develop camera sensors with 600MP resolution. That’s something huge! If they managed to acquire a 600MP camera sensor, then there will be no competition in this line for them.

Samsung is allegedly planning to acquire a 600MP camera sensor!

Samsung was the first one to launch a 64-megapixel camera sensor and a 108-megapixel camera sensor. This information about the 600MP camera sensor was revealed by the Executive Vice President and Head of Sensor Business TeamYongin Park, who demonstrated the plans about how Samsung wants to create small camera sensors, capable of matching and outpacing the human eye, said to around 500-megapixels.

Samsung is working to improve the pixel binning technology to develop the camera sensor. The 64MP Samsung sensor uses 2×2 pixel binning, while the 108MP sensor use 3×3 pixel binning to boost the absorption of light and reduce issues regarding the low-light conditions.

Yongin Park further said,

To date, the major applications for image sensors have been in the smartphones field, but this is expected to expand soon into other rapidly-emerging fields such as autonomous vehicles, IoT and drones. Samsung is proud to have been leading the small-pixel, high-resolution sensor trend that will continue through 2020 and beyond, and is prepared to ride the next wave of technological innovation with a comprehensive product portfolio that addresses the diverse needs of device manufacturers. Through relentless innovation, we are determined to open up endless possibilities in pixel technologies that might even deliver image sensors that can capture more detail than the human eye.

The following statement was posted in an article post published on the Samsung Newsroom. There is no word when we will see this camera sensor in person, but it is not going to be anytime sooner. It took six months for Samsung to jump from a 64-megapixel camera sensor to a 108-megapixel camera sensor so you can do the math about when we will able to witness this 600MP camera sensor.

Apart from the 600MP camera sensor, Samsung is also working on creating new technologies that will be able to change the way of how we interact with the world around us in the future.
