2019 has been the year of innovation with new technology being introduced in each and every realm. The biggest innovation, however, for the year is the launch of foldable smartphones.
Did we ever imagine that the coming generations will have an option to buy smartphones that can not only be folded but have various other distinguishing features?
No! Honestly, never did we expect this to happen.
Various smartphone companies are operating worldwide, and most of them have tried to build the first-ever foldable smartphone.
Recently the third brand which announced its foldable phone is Motorola.
The company has launched its Motorola Razr 2019-a revisited update of its iconic clamshell phone Motorola Razr.
For the convenience of our readers, let us compare the features and specifications of the three phones and find out which one of the three tops the list.
Samsung Galaxy Fold vs Huawei Mate X vs Motorola Razr (2019)
The newly launched Motorola Razr has a 6.2 inches, 876X2142p HD+ primary display with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and supports an AMOLED screen. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Fold comes with a display of 7.3 inches, 1536X2152p with Quad HD+ technology, and Dynamic AMOLED display. Huawei Mate X features a display of 8 inches, 2200X2480p OLED display with Quad HD+ technology.
Out of the three phones compared, Samsung certainly has a better display and vibrant image quality. The quality of the display of the Motorola Razr is inferior to the rest of the two phones.
Coming to the design of the three phones, Motorola Razr does not become a tablet like the other two phones.
Motorola Razr is a clamshell phone supporting a foldable display that folds to the size of a normal smartphone. Hence, the external display can be easily used for small tasks like answering a call, sending messages, or for checking notifications.
On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Fold has two displays and becomes a tablet when unfolded. It is comparatively more substantial, heavier, and thicker.
Huawei Mate X has a single display that folds outside, and hence, the screen can be used even when the phone is still folded.
It is also heavier and larger compared to the Motorola Razr.
Hardware & Software
Talking about other specifications of these phones, Motorola Razr comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC processor and has a 6GB RAM with 128 GB internal storage. It supports a battery of 2510 mAH. It supports eSim, whereas the other two phones in the list support a nano-sim.
Samsung Galaxy Fold supports an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC processor, supporting 12 GB RAM with an internal storage of 512 GB. It has a battery of 4380 mAH.
Huawei Mate X supports flagship chipset Kirin 980 SoC processor with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB onboard storage and comes with a battery of 4500 mAH.
Out of the three, Samsung tops the list when talking about the memory, battery, and processor used. Motorola Razr is inferior in this aspect, as well.
The camera of Motorola Razr also fails to that of Samsung Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X.
Motorola Razr has two cameras- one of 16 megapixels with f/1.7 aperture for both regular and selfie photos and the second camera of 5 megapixels with f/2.0 aperture for selfies.
Samsung Galaxy Fold has triple cameras. The primary camera is a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture, a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with f/1.5-f/2.4 aperture, and a third telephoto camera of 12 megapixels with f/2.4 aperture.
Huawei Mate X, on the other hand, supports a quad-camera setup of 40+16+8 megapixels with an aperture of f/1.8, f/2.4, and f/2.2.
Motorola Razr has a price of $1,499.99 (which is INR 1, 08,200 roughly) in the US.
On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Fold has a retail price of $1,980 (which is INR 1, 41,700 roughly) in the US and retails at a price of INR 1, 64, 999 in India.
Huawei Mate X has a retail price of CNY 16,999 in China which equals to INR 1, 74,600.
We cannot declare which phone tops the list when it comes to pricing because one of them better in performance but might be out of the reach of a lot of users.
Motorola Razr is better for people who want a compact phone in their budget, but the users will have to compromise on specifications, and hence, it is not for advanced smartphone users.
