Today, Realme launched the world’s first Helio G80 smartphone, the Realme 6i, at an event in Myanmar. Let’s take a look at what this new processor can do and how well does it perform when compared with its other competitors in the market.
MediaTek Helio G80 chipset
Addressing the elephant in the room, the Realme 6i is powered by the Helio G80, which is an octa-core processor comprising of two Cortex-A75 performance cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Speaking of performance, this chip has the Mali-G52 GPU for handling intense graphical tasks, and it ranks just below the Helio G90T chipset from the same company.
The 6i is considered as the official successor to the Realme 5i, and it scores an impressive 201k on the Antutu benchmark.
Display, Battery and Optics Configurations
Taking a look at the display, the Realme 6i will most probably have a 6.5-inches FHD+ display with a screen to body ratio of 89.8 percent. The display is definitely an upgrade over the previous Realme 5i, but just like its predecessor, Realme 6i also has that same waterdrop notch on the top of the display.
The display might not be a similarity between Realme 6i and the newly launched Realme 6 and 6 Pro, but these devices have the same side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button of the phone. Speaking of software, 6i runs the latest Realme UI on top of Android version 10.
Talking about the optics, Realme 6i has a quad-camera setup comprising of a 48 Megapixel Primary sensor, an Ultra-Wide sensor with a 119° degree of view, a Macro sensor (up to 4cm), and a dedicated lens for Black&White portrait shots. On the front, we have a 16 Megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 lens for selfies.
Speaking of backup, the Realme 6i packs a massive 5,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.
Price and Availability
The phone is available in two color variants, which are interestingly named Milk White and Green Tea. The base model of Realme 6i has 3 gigs of RAM and 64 gigs of storage, and it starts at KS 249,900, i.e., roughly $176 or Rs. 13,000.
The upper variant has an unusual 4 gigs of RAM coupled with 128 gigs of storage, and it is priced at around KS 299,900, i.e., roughly $212 or Rs 15,700. In Myanmar, you can pre-order the Realme 6i till March 26th as it will go on sale for the first time on the same date.
