This time of every year, Qualcomm reveals its next-gen technologies, which will be available on smartphones next year. Recently the chipset maker has announced its fourth annual Snapdragon Tech Summit, which will be held from December 3 to December 5 in Maui. It’s expected to unveil its next high-end Snapdragon 865 SoC for smartphones.
The chipset was first revealed by Chinese luxury smartphone and watchmaker 8848 in its upcoming Titanium M6 5G handset, which may launch next year. There is no doubt that Snapdragon 865 will be the main attraction of the event.
However, the company didn’t provide any details about the chipset. According to the rumors, the chipset is built using Samsung’s 7nm EUV process. Snapdragon 865 may come with custom CPU cores based on the latest Cortex-A75 from Arm along with an updated powerful Adreno GPU and improved A.I. capabilities. Moreover, the chipset will come in both LTE and 5G variants. For the 5G variant, Qualcomm will use its Snapdragon X55 modem, which was unveiled in February. Both the variants will sport LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.0 storage.
Furthermore, the chipmaker may announce an upgraded variant of the company’s first dedicated laptop chip Snapdragon 8cx SoC launched during Tech Summit 2018. A Snapdragon Wear chip for smartwatches and a new audio product may also add to the catalog.
