According to a recent post from a well-known leakster IceUniverse, Qualcomm could launch its Snapdragon 865+ chipset next month in July. He shared this piece of information on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. In his post, he said, “If nothing happens, Qualcomm will officially launch the Dragon 865 Plus processor in July.” He further said, ” the product will cover the second half of each flagship model.”
Last year in July, Qualcomm announced its Snapdragon 855+ chipset. Also, earlier this February, the tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that Qualcomm would announce Snapdragon 865+ in the third quarter of the year. So, there’s a slight possibility that the information provided by IceUniverse could be correct. This information is beneficial to those users who are planning to buy a high-end flagship smartphone this year.
Also, when it comes to the Snapdragon 865+ chipset, there is plenty of false information available over the internet. Some rumors claim that the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset could go up to the clock speed of 3.09GHz. In comparison, the cortex A77 microarchitecture from Snapdragon 865 goes to a maximum of 2.84GHz.
Also, according to a report from MyDrivers, Meizu’s Chief Marketing Officer Wan Zhiqiang allegedly said that Qualcomm would skip the Snapdragon 865+ chipset this year. However, we don’t think this will happen, but who knows?
Moreover, the ROG 3 could be one of the first smartphones to feature this upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset. You must be thinking why ROG 3? Well, the answer is simple. The Asus ROG 2 was the first smartphone to launch with the new Snapdragon 855+ chipset. So, there is a possibility that the Asus ROG 3 might arrive with the Snapdragon 865+ chipset in July.
Still, there is no official confirmation from the brand itself about when or if they will launch its chipset. So, we advise you guys to take this information as a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more updates.
