Last December, Qualcomm revealed its flagship Snapdragon 865 SoC at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019 held in Hawaii, which will power all the premium flagship smartphones getting released this year. The company recently shared an 8K video sample using Snapdragon 865 powered smartphone.
The 8K video sample above is recorded using a prototype 865 smartphone equipped with a Sony IMX586 image sensor in Arizona last November, before the launch. The sceneries covered in the video sample include the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and the Petroglyphs near Antelope Canyon.
According to Qualcomm, Smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 can capture professional image quality, and will pack exciting new camera features including 8K video capture. 8K video is loaded with 33-megapixels per frame — so it’s big, sharp, and can be shared in its full glory on YouTube.
Qualcomm credits its new Spectra 480 Image Signal Processor (ISP) present in the Snapdragon 865 for making this possible. In case you run out the loop, the Spectra 480 ISP procedures images and videos at a blazingly quick 2 Gigapixels per second. It supports as much as 200MP and makes it possible for numerous functions consisting of unrestricted HD 960fps slo-mo video recording, 8K video recording, 4K HDR, and more.
