OnePlus has launched its two most awaited flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 8, and the OnePlus 8 Pro. They held an online launch event today at 8:30 PM (IST) to unveil the two flagship smartphones. Despite the global pandemic Coronavirus, OnePlus managed to launch their flagship lineup, which I think is remarkable.

The two smartphones from OnePlus feature the latest Snapdragon 865 processor, but the camera and display specifications vary between the two. The OnePlus 8 Pro gets a larger display as compared to the OnePlus 8. So without further ado, let’s dig into the specifications of these two premium smartphones.

The OnePlus 8 comes with a sleek design with waterfall display edges, and a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. The rear panel features a triple camera setup with some sensors at the front and the back of the display for enhanced automatic brightness. It is also the cheapest 5G smartphone of the year 2020.

The display of the OnePlus 8 is a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a PPI of 402. It supports a refresh rate of up to 90Hz and HDR10+ display. It also comes with protection from the Corning Gorilla Glass, both front and back. The smartphone features an in-display fingerprint scanner.

As for the camera, the OnePlus 8 features a triple camera setup on the rear, which includes a 48MP Sony IMX586 wide PDAF lens with an aperture of f/1.75, a 16MP ultra-wide PDAF lens with an aperture of f/2.2, and 2MP macro lens with an aperture of f/2.4. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 16MP wide lens with an aperture of f/2.0.

The OnePlus 8 comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. The GPU used on this smartphone is the Adreno 650 coupled with a 4,300 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. The 33W fast charger can juice up your battery up to 50% in just 22 minutes.

The OnePlus 8 comes with the latest Android 10 with OxygenOS out of the box. It also comes with dual stereo speakers as well as Dolby Atmos.

The OnePlus 8 Pro features a similar sleek design with waterfall curved edges and a punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. The rear panel features a quad-camera setup with sensors optimized for improved automatic brightness. The power unlock button is placed on the right side of the smartphone, along with the OnePlus’ handy alert slider. Meanwhile, the volume rockers are placed on the left side of the smartphone.

The display of the OnePlus 8 Pro is 6.78-inch Fluid AMOLED display with 19.8:9 aspect ratio, HDR 10+, and QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with protection from the Corning Gorilla Glass. Also, the smartphone features an in-display fingerprint scanner.

As for the camera, the OnePlus 8 Pro features a quad-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 48-megapixel Sony IMX689 main sensor with f/1.78 aperture. The primary sensor offers support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The next is a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens with an aperture of f/2.2, an 8MP telephoto lens with an aperture of f/2.4, and a 5MP color filter sensor with an aperture of f/2.4. The front camera is a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor.

The OnePlus 8 Pro comes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with 8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of storage. The GPU used on this smartphone is the Adreno 650 GPU coupled with a massive 4,510 mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging, 30W fast wireless charging, and 3W reverse wireless charging.

The OnePlus 8 Pro comes with the latest Android 10 with OxygenOS out of the box. It also comes with dual stereo speakers as well as Dolby Atmos.

Price and Availability

The OnePlus 8 is currently priced at 53,141 Indian Rupees ($699 / £599) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, while the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at 60,690 Indian Rupees ($799). Color options for the base version are Glacial GreenInterstellar, GlowOnyx, and Black.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 Pro price starts from Rs. 68,280 ($899) for the 8GB RAM variant, while the 12GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 75,880 ($999). Color options for the Pro device are Glacial Green, Ultramarine Blue, and Onyx Black.

Both the smartphones will be put up on sale on April 19. The Indian price and availability of the smartphone are yet to reveal.
