Yesterday, Nvidia GeForce posted something curious on its official Twitter account. The company posted a short clip or teaser with a #UltimateCountdown hashtag. According to some rumors, it means that Nvidia could launch its long-awaited GeForce RTX 3080 GPUs by the end of August.
In the teaser video, the clip shows nothing else except a supernova. However, if you look at the Twitter banner, you can see the text – ’21 days 21 years’. Judging by the information provided, we can say that the next-gen Nvidia GPUs will get announced in the next 21 days (August 31st). Moreover, you can check the banner image below.
If you have been following Nvidia for a time now, you will remember that August 31st marks the 21st anniversary of Nvidia’s first-ever Geforce GPU launch. It was the GeForce 256 graphic card that debuted in the year 1999. Additionally, according to a theory by Wccftech, if you multiply 256 by 21, you will get 5,376, which is the leaked core count of the forthcoming GPU.
Nvidia will switch to Ampere architecture with the arrival of the 3080 GPUs. Currently, the company is using Turning architecture for its GPUs. Moreover, according to the reports, the new Ampere architecture will bring a massive upgrade in performance compared to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 20xx GPU lineup.
