In recent E3 event, EA didn’t mention about the new NEED FOR SPEED game which is under development, although planned to launch before the end of this year. But it appears that the fans of the racing game series won’t have to wait much longer, as Need for speed on EA’s website now showing a countdown which will end at 7 a.m. PT on August 14.
The countdown could be toward the official unveiling or at least a teaser of the most recent entry ahead of Gamescom. In recent first-quarter earnings call for EA, it has confirmed already that it will bring new Need for Speed and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare games to Gamescom this year.[wpinsertshortcodead id=”bzyqm5d3e04029f48f”]
EA Community Lead Ben Walke stated when discussing the decision for Need For Speed avoiding E3:
Cars naturally top the list. You could say that the cars and customization of NFS are the beating heart of what we do. Without either of these, NFS fails to exist as we know it. These two elements play a pivotal role in the series and are two aspects that we consider to be foundational, meaning they aren’t going anywhere because NFS wouldn’t exist without them.
But NFS is also the culmination of many different aspects, and there’s a special essence that appears when all these aspects come together at a very high quality, an essence that helps create that unique NFS feeling. You could say this essence is our DNA, and it’s exactly what we’re injecting straight into our next project.
Ghost Games, the Swedish studio should be developing the new title. Since 2013’s Need for Speed Rivals, Ghost Games has also been responsible for the series. EA has hinted earlier that it will not be following in the same steps as current games, describing “Just because we’ve done something one method for the last couple of years, does not suggest we must continue to do so.”
We don’t have to wait long to find out what would be the new Need for Speed is going to be, as a day and a few hours waiting left.
