After the launch of Motorola Razr 2020, the company is working on its new flagship and mid-range devices. Reported by the XDA-developers, Motorola is also expected to launch two new upscale devices. The last flagship device launched by Motorola was the Moto Z3, which was counted as a flagship only because of the Snapdragon 835 processor.
According to XDA-developers, they have received the live images of one of the upcoming Motorola devices from their trusted sources. They have also gathered information about the specifications and features of the two devices. The marketing name of these upcoming high-end devices is referred to be,” Motorola One 2020.”
One of these “Motorola One 2020” could be marketed with the name “Motorola Edge+” in some markets.
If you look at the images, you will notice that Motorola has gone with a really curved display advancing towards the ‘waterfall’ status this time. According to Max Weinbach, an XDA-developer, the device seems to have an “80% waterfall” display. In one of the images, we can see the volume rockers on the right side of the smartphone.
Speaking about the camera, the front camera is placed in a hole-punch style on the top left corner of the smartphone. Moto has used a similar hole-punch display setup in the past on devices like Motorola One Vision. The hole-punches on previous smartphones were quite large, but the hole-punches on this smartphone seem to be smaller.
These devices are going to be the first flagships from Motorola to offer a refresh rate higher than 60Hz. They will be capable of a 90Hz refresh rate at Full-HD+ resolution. The reports also said that the Snapdragon 865 powered flagship phone in the Motorola One 2020 series is codenamed as “burton” or “race turbo” while the other smartphone with the Snapdragon 765 or 765G is codenamed as “racer5G” or “racer.”
During Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Tech Summit, Motorola said that they will ship a phone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765/765G and the Snapdragon 865, which makes it clear that these two upcoming devices will be running on Qualcomm’s latest chipsets. Both devices will have a 6.67 inch 2340×1080 curved display.
The “racer 5G” will either have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 or 765G processor packed with 6GB of RAM and a storage of 128GB. The display of the “racer 5G” will run at a refresh rate of 90Hz. The rear camera will be a 48MP primary lens. The battery capacity on this device will be a 4660 mAh. It will have support for NFC and will run on Android 10 out of the box.
However, “burton” will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor packed with 8GB or 12GB of RAM. The battery capacity on this device will be a 5170 mAh. The smartphone will run on Android 10 out of the box. There’s currently no information available about the storage capacity, camera, or connectivity.
The price and availability for these two smartphones could be revealed by Motorola at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2020.
