Nvidia and Mojang together have reached a spectacular new level of realism with the intro of real-time DXR ray-tracing for the Windows 10 edition of Minecraft. Minecraft with RTX will refit the whole game with path tracing, a kind of ray tracing including extraordinary levels of detail, impacting every pixel of every scene.
Players will see natural lighting, shadows, and reflections, plus a lot more, showing the power of ray tracing. Mojang and Microsoft are working with Nvidia to bring the ray-tracing powers to this world-building game. Saxs Persson, Franchise Creative Director of Minecraft at Microsoft, said:[wpinsertshortcodead id=”bzyqm5d3e04029f48f”]
Ray tracing sits at the center of what we think is next for Minecraft. RTX gives the Minecraft world a brand-new feel to it. In normal Minecraft, a block of gold just appears yellow, but with ray tracing turned on, you really get to see the specular highlight, you get to see the reflection, you can even see a mob reflected in it.
Everything with ray-tracing is improved visually. Lighting is upgraded to real-time global lighting, which includes direct light sources like the sun or glowing lava, hard and soft shadows, diffuse global illumination, reflections, refraction, and atmospheric scattering.
Since Minecraft is so unrealistic to start with that, the end result is more dramatic than with the other ray-traced games. However, to run the new update in real-time, users will need a Windows 10 PC equipped with Nvidia RTX GPUs. For now, it seems the only method you’re going to get much better graphics on the video game since the Super Duper Graphics Pack for Minecraft on the Xbox One X canceled.
Along with all this, Mojang likewise revealed it’s implementing a new graphics engine to Minecraft Bedrock called Render Dragon. It will bring visual and efficiency improvements at some level to all platforms, depending upon their hardware.[wpinsertshortcodead id=”zxikm5d3e04a8f1451″]
Mojang hasn’t revealed whether this RTX-exclusive spot will cost additional for the video game’s existing owners and no release date was given beyond 2020.
