Facebook has announced today the screen sharing feature on a video call in Messenger and Messenger Room. This feature is live now and available both for Android and iOS. Screen sharing helps users share their screen instantly with one-on-one friends and family or in a group video call with up to 8 users and up to 16 people in Rooms using Messenger on their mobile devices.
Nora Micheva, Product Manager of Messenger, said in an official blog,
We know people are trying to stay connected more than ever and screen sharing is the latest feature we’re rolling out to bring people closer together.
How to start screen sharing?
Start a video call > Share Your Screen > Start Sharing
The screen will be shared with the participants within the session.
With the screen share, you can share virtually anything together like shop together, sharing pictures from the camera roll, browse social media, and much more.
The screen sharing in Rooms will soon have added control, which will enable users to limit their ability to share to themselves or make it available to all users when creating a room during a video call.
We already know that Messenger Rooms supports group video chat with up to 50 participants, and in the coming days, the screen sharing feature will be expanded to 50 users.
We hope people will find screen sharing a fun and engaging way to connect and share with family and friends on video calls and in Messenger Rooms.
The screen sharing feature is available on the latest version of the Messenger in Android, iOS, Web, and desktop app.
