MediaTek has just announced its first Flagship grade processors, which have 5G support. These series of the processor are named Dimenisty, and it’s a big deal for MediaTek because finally, there are MediaTek processors that can be used in flagship or high-end devices.

The first processor in this lineup is called The Dimensity 1000, and as we’ve said before, it comes with a 5G modem integrated into the chip. The modem present in The Dimensity 1000 supports 4.7Gbps downlink speeds and 2.5Gbps uplink speeds over sub-6GHz networks, and It can only support the sub-6GHz 5G network. With the all-new multi-mode support present in this chip, you can use any network ranging from 2G to 5G.

Well, for now, these chips are not suitable for the U.S. operators as it only supports the sub-6GHz 5G network. The reason for this is that in the U.S., there is 5G support for mmWave frequency, which is not supported by this chipset. Currently, 5G on these chipsets can only be used in the Asian region, but in the near future, MediaTek will build new chips, which will have support for mmWave frequency.

Dimensity 1000 is the first chip that has dual 5G standby. It also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1+. Apart from the features let’s take a look at the configurations of these chips, the first chip in this lineup has four Cortex-A77 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and for power efficiency, four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2GHz.

GPU presented in the chip is new and hasn’t been used in chipset ever, which is ARM’s Mali-G77 MC9. Apart from these, it also has six AI processors that offer double the performance of the previous APU and a computing horsepower of offers 4.5 teraflops.

Dimensity 1000 supports 2K+ displays with a 90Hz refresh rate or FHD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate. Now talking about camera support, this chip can support multi-frame video HDR, 80MP camera resolution, and the ability to process streams from multiple cameras at once!

According to MediaTek, the first phone ever to be having the Dimensity 1000 will launch at the end of the year 2019 or the beginning of the year 2020.
