MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC will deliver 5G support to Mid-range devices


As we know, whenever it comes to producing powerful chipsets in a budget segment, the name MediaTek comes from everyone’s mouth. So far, the company has revealed some powerful chipsets such as the Dimensity 1000 series. This time it has announced its another new chipset known as Dimensity 720. It is just a slimmed-down variant of the Dimensity 800 series chipsets, but it packs quite a decent performance. So, without further ado, let’s talk about the features and specifications of this new chipset.

MediaTek Dimensity 720 Features 

First, let’s talk about the CPU. The Dimensity 720 SoC comes with an octa-core chipset built on a 7nm TSMC process node. It includes two ARM Cortex-A76 cores, and six ARM Cortex-A55 cores, both clocked up to 2.0GHz. Moreover, it also features Heterogeneous Multi-Processing.

Second, let’s talk about GPU and connectivity. The DImensity 720 SoC comes with ARM Mali-G57 MC3 GPU coupled with an integrated 5G modem. It supports both SA/ NSA sub-6GHz networks and offers you download speeds up to 2.35Gbps. According to MediaTek, it also has add-on features like 5G UltraSave and Dynamic BWP to maintain power and data usage.


First, let’s talk about the display. The Dimensity 720 SoC can have up to Full-HD+ panel with a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 21:9. Besides, it can also feature a refresh rate of up to 90Hz.

Second, let’s talk about the camera. The Dimensity 720 SoC supports up to a single 64MP camera or a 20MP+16MP dual-camera setup. In terms of video, you can record up to 4K (H.264/265) videos at 30 FPS.

Third, let’s talk about internals. The Dimensity 720 SoC supports a maximum of up to 12GB of 2133MHz LPDDR4x RAM coupled with UFS 2.2 storage. Apart from that, it also comes with a MediaTek APU onboard. Other connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 55G Multi-Mode, and also NavIC support for Indian users.

Currently, MediaTek has not revealed anything about when this new chipset will hit the markets, but we can hope that soon it will be launched with an affordable 5G smartphone.
