The South Korean giant LG has officially announced that it will be launching its new smartphone, the LG Velvet, at its launch event on May 7. It’s been a while since LG hinted that it would launch a new smartphone a long time ago. But today, LG revealed the full specifications of the upcoming LG Velvet smartphone on its official site. So without wasting any more time, let’s jump on to the specifications.
LG Velvet Specifications
LG has this time opted for a new design for its upcoming smartphone, which includes a Waterdrop Camera and a 3D Arc Design. The waterdrop camera is a design in which the rear cameras and the flash are arranged in a vertical direction as if they are falling water droplets. Apart from that, the edges of this smartphone are coated by metal, providing it a balanced design.
The display of the LG Velvet comes with a 6.8-inch Cinema FullVision OLED display with an aspect ratio of 20.5: 9. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels with a PPI of 395. On the top, there is a small cutout for the front camera with thick bezels. Apart from that, the smartphone will feature an under-display fingerprint scanner.
As for the camera, the camera on the LG Velvet features a triple-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 48-megapixel standard lens with f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 16-megapixel selfie snapper.
Talking about the internals, the LG Velvet comes with Qualcomm’s latest SnapDragon 765 5G chipset coupled with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. A 4,300mAh battery backs it with support for 30W fast charging and 10W wireless charging. The LG Velvet smartphone will run on Android 10 out of the box.
Price and Availability
LG will probably unveil the pricing and availability of the LG Velvet smartphone at its launch event happening on May 7. All we know right now is that it comes in four color variants, namely Aurora White, Aurora Gray, Aurora Green, and Illusion Sunset.
Also, the sales of the LG Velvet smartphone will commence on May 15 in South Korea.
