The unlocked Core i9-i9-9900KS can attain 5GHz turbo speed across all eight cores and 16 threads and has a base speed of 4GHz. It also has 127W TDP, 16 MB Intel Smart Cache and up to 40 platform PCIe lanes. The processor is compatible with Z390 motherboards.

Intel’s Vice President and General Manager of Desktop, Workstation and Channel Group, Frank Soqui mentioned:

Intel has raised the bar for desktop gaming with the new 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900KS Special Edition processor. Based on the 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900K architecture, it’s the world’s best gaming desktop processor made even better and created specifically for extreme gamers who want the most performance possible. This processor demonstrates another innovation milestone for Intel, following last year’s limited edition 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8086K.

According to Intel, the special edition chip is up to 17% faster in 4K video editing in comparison with the previous generations and 78% faster than a 3-year old PC. It can provide up to 35% higher frame rate and 27% faster mega-tasking such as gaming, streaming, and recording simultaneously when compared with a 3-year old PC.

The 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900KS might be appealing for gamers who are interested in clock speeds instead of additional cores. As its a Special Edition processor and has a limited quantity, so you have to act soon if you want the processor.
