After the successful launch of the Huawei Mate X, the company is working on its further variations. According to a twitter user with the username @RODENT950, Huawei will be launching the Mate Xs and the new Mate X2 in their foldable phone lineup.
Going by the leaks, the Mate X2 will get launched in the third quarter of the year 2020. The device will share its similarities with the Samsung Galaxy Fold, and by this, he means that the X2 will have a full-screen display for normal usage and a smaller display for the time and notifications.
The Huawei Mate X2 is speculated to be having a better hinge mechanism that adds to the durability of the phone and an improved display for better viewing angles. Talking about the displays, the primary one will be around 6.7-inches in size, and the secondary will be a mere 1-inch that will be used for selfies, notifications, and time.
Talking about the processor, the Huawei Mate X2 is rumored to be running the company’s very own Kirin 1000 SOC, which will be launched at IFA next year. According to a Huawei patent, the next-gen mate device will be featuring a clamshell design that you have previously seen on the Motorola Razr 2019 and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 leaked renders.
The clamshell design has several advantages such as better form-factor, better and durable hinge mechanism, and also no crease on display like the first-gen Galaxy Fold. Apart from all of this, it looks like the upcoming Huawei Mate X2 will be a tough competitor in the foldable smartphone market.
