Google Pixel 4a Launched – Everything You Need To Know!

After plenty of leaks and multiple rumors, Google has finally revealed its Pixel 4a smartphone today. It was supposed to launch at the company’s annual Google I/O event earlier this year. But, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Google had to cancel the event. So, without further ado, let’s talk about the specifications of the Pixel 4a smartphone.

Pixel 4a Specifications

First, let’s start with the design. The Pixel 4a comes with a sleek design and matte finish, which makes it look beautiful. It features a hole-punch design with a solo front and rear camera on the back. Moreover, there is a physical fingerprint scanner at the rear.

Second, let’s talk about the display. The Pixel 4a features a 5.81-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio 19.5:9. For protection, it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Furthermore, it also offers HDR support and Always-On Display.

Third, let’s talk about the camera. The Pixel 4a comes with a single 12MP camera and LED flash at the rear with f/1.7 aperture along with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Apart from that, it also features Portrait Mode, Top Shot, Night Sight with astrophotography capabilities, and fused video stabilization. Meanwhile, the front features a solo 8MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.

Fourth, let’s talk about internals. The Pixel 4a comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G processor coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. The battery on this one is 3140mAh, which comes with 18W fast charging support. In terms of GPU, it comes with Adreno 618, which is compatible with the Snapdragon 730G.

Fifth, let’s talk about connectivity and other useful features. The Pixel 4a comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, 4G VoLTENFC, USB Type-C, GPS/ A-GPS, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. As for the sensors, it includes an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, barometer, accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope.

Price and Availability

Google Pixel 4a comes in three variants – Basically Black, Static Grey, and Blue Confetti. However, only one variant is available right now; the black color variant for this year is priced at $349. Currently, it’s available for pre-order in the US on Google Fi and Google Store. But, after August 20, it will be available through Google Store, BestBuy.com, Amazon, and as well as, carriers including US Cellular and Verizon.

As for India and other markets, the smartphone will be launched later this year due to the pandemic. We can see the Pixel 4a smartphone somewhere around October in India.

However, there will be a launch of Pixel 5, which will come a 5G variant later this year. Once it releases in fall, the Pixel 4a (5G) will be priced at $499. 

Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 will be available in the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia.
