Its been a while since Google updated its Authenticator app. This week, the company rolls out an update for the app. The new update adds a dark mode theme, an option to transfer accounts between devices and upgrades the version number to 5.10. Android Police is the first to cover this.
The Google Authenticator app’s logo has been revamped along with the floating plus button at the bottom right corner in the app following the Material Design 2.0. Android Police also reported that the update brings a true-black dark theme and added a much-needed import/export.
The import/export tool can be used to transfer accounts meaning if users want to switch devices, they can use the import/export tool in the app to transfer all their login accounts to the app in other devices. This can be done through a QR code generated in the app of the old device, which the users need to scan in the Authenticator app of the new device. Even users can select accounts which they want to transfer to other devices.
Its the first big design revamp for the app since 2017. The update has already started rolling out and will soon widely available to everyone.
