Facebook has confirmed it is expanding its efforts to extend its News tab in the next six months to a year to include more nations. The new areas that Facebook News could cover include the UK, Germany, France, India, and Brazil, but its choices are still being considered. Facebook mentioned that it will pay news publishers to include their content in the News tab.
As per the social media giant, Facebook News takes time to reach new markets, as user preferences and news inventories vary in different regions. Facebook should work closely with publishers in the mentioned countries above to respect their business models and provide useful experience for users.
Campbell Brown, VP, Global News Partnerships said,
“We will continue to focus on growing engagement of Facebook News in the US and we’re committed to the partnerships we’ve developed with US publishers to make Facebook News a valuable asset over the long term.”
