Facebook now lets you banish nav bar tabs & red dots

Are those red dots of Facebook notification bothering you so much? You may feel insane while opening the Facebook home screen. Are you tired of Facebook Marketplace consuming your screen space? Now you can control what shows up in the Facebook application’s navigation bar by using a newly introduced method called Shortcut Bar Settings.

Over the weekend, TechCrunch detected the alternative to eliminate certain tabs like Marketplace, Watch, Groups, Events, Profile, Friend Requests, News, Today In, Gaming and Dating or simply mute their notification dots. In light of our request, Fb assures that Shortcut Bar Settings is currently turning out to everybody, with most iOS users effectively implemented and the remaining Android owners getting it updated in the following weeks.

The move could improve the mental health and welfare of individuals who don’t need their Fb jumbled with interruptions. Users, as of now, get important alerts that they could actually control by means of their Notifications tab. Constant red notification numbers on the home screen are a tricky development hack, drawing individuals’ attention to erratic Event wall posts, Group feeds, and Marketplace.

A Facebook representative told,

We are rolling out navigation bar controls to make it simpler for individuals to interface with the things they like and control the notifications they get inside the Facebook application

Previously in July 2018, Facebook said it would begin customizing the navigation bar dependent on which utilities you utilize most. But the navigation bar has appeared in the motive of elevated features. Fb needed to be popular, similar to its Craigslist competitor Marketplace, which rarely in use, rather than its long-standing Events feature, which we access daily.

To utilize the Shortcut Bar Settings choices, tap and hold on any of the shortcuts in your navigation bar that is at the bottom of the Facebook home screen on iOS and the top on Android. A menu will pop up, giving you a chance to take-down that tab entirely or leave it. However, disable the red notification tally overlays. That clears space in your navigation bar for a more peaceful experience.

You can also try:
Settings & Privacy > Settings > Shortcuts menu the ability to toggle any of the Marketplace, Groups, Events, and Pages tabs on or off.
