Facebook Introduces Facebook Pay- a new payment system for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp

Facebook recently announced the launch of Facebook Pay, which is a unified payment system that can now be used to make payments through all the apps belonging to the Facebook family- namely Instagram, Facebook Messengers, and WhatsApp.

Facebook Pay

The app, just like Google pay, can be used to send or receive money from one person to another or to make purchases like in-game purchases, buying event tickets, buying through Facebook Marketplace, etc. The app can also be used for fundraising activities and for making donations towards charity.

The app, as of now, is available for use only in the US, which indicates that Facebook still wants to test the app and be sure about its performance before launching it for use by the rest of the world.

Facebook Introduces Facebook Pay- a new payment system.

Facebook pay would be similar to apps like Apple pay and Google pay, and there won’t be any fee charged by the company for making fund transfers from one party to another. With this app you can make payments either directly from your bank account or through credit cards.

The App will also be supporting international partners like PayPal to make and receive payments.

Facebook messengers, however, already supported payments, but it did not support major credit cards, which is what is new in the Facebook pay app.

Facebook Pay will store the transaction history of the users, which will be private and can be made public if the user wishes, so, however, the details of bank accounts and other confidential data will remain encrypted.

It is also expected that Facebook will be using the transaction history of its users for a Facebook advertisement. For instance, if you made payment for cosmetics, you might end up seeing an ad related to them later.

The users will have to add the app individually for each Facebook family App. This means that if you are already using Facebook Payments for Instagram, you will have to separately add it to WhatsApp if you wish to make a payment through WhatsApp using Facebook Pay.

To activate Facebook Payments, all the users need to do is follow three easy steps.

To set up Facebook Payments, you need to go to the Facebook app or website and search for Facebook Pay in the settings.

Facebook App/ Website > Settings > Payments > Account Settings

Then you have to add a payment method and start transacting instantly for free.
