New Announcement: End of support for Windows 10 Mobile Office apps

End of support for Windows 10 Mobile Office apps

From earlier report, we get to know that Microsoft is going to end support for Windows 10 Mobile OS on 10th December 2019. Now the company has announced officially that Office apps for phones will reach end of support on 12th January 2021.

The software suite, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and OneNote, will be not receiving bug fixes, security updates, and technical support after the mentioned date. Its also noted that the Office suite will still work after the end of support but will be pulled, which means no Office apps will be found in the Windows Phone Store.

In the tech community, Microsoft’s senior product manager of Office apps, Bill Doll mentioned:

Because of the lack of security updates, we strongly recommend that if you wish to use Office on a phone, you transition to the latest Microsoft Office apps on an iOS or Android phone. Not only will you find Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote apps in the iOS and Android app stores, you will also find new innovations such as the Office app which provides a simple, integrated experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint all in one app with all the mobile features you already know and use.
