CES 2020: Samsung T7 Touch Portable SSD with a fingerprint sensor

Samsung has announced its latest external storage device, the Portable Solid State Drive SSD T7 Touch, with the fastest transfer speed presently available on the market based on USB 3.2 Gen 2 at CES 2020. The Samsung T7 Touch Portable SSD is incorporated with an additional built-in fingerprint sensor for the next level data protection.

The Samsung T7 Touch delivers a remarkable speed upgrade over the previous storages with 1,050MB/s read speed, and 1,000MB/s write speed, which is twice the speed of the previous T5 model. Moreover, the T7 Touch Portable SSD is up to 9.5 times faster than external Hard Disk Drives and can offer maximum speed when combined with the NVMe interface.

The T7 lineup will be offered in two variants- T7 and T7 Touch. However, the company is releasing the T7 Touch first. The most unique aspect is that it has a fingerprint sensing unit that assists protect information kept in the drive. This remains in addition to password protection and AES 256-bit hardware file encryption. The basic T7, which is coming later on, will not have a fingerprint sensing unit.

Although, after solid aluminum casing and the additional hardware, the new Portable still weighs 58 grams, which quite light. Moreover, the new Portable SSD has a Motion LED by which a user can determine the status of the device with a peek. The Samsung T7 Touch has also been recognized at the CES 2020 Innovation Awards.

The Samsung T7 Touch will be available over 30 countries worldwide starting from this month, and the basic T7 is expected to get launch in the second quarter of this year.

The T7 Touch will be available in 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB variants with a price ranging from $129.99 to $399.99 and will be available in two colors- Silver and Black and for more info visit samsung.com/ssd.
