Finally, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 11 line-up at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino along with gaming and streaming services to iPads and Watches. Apple released iPhone XR last year, which is less expensive than the iPhone X to reach a larger audience. As per Tim Cook iPhone became the most popular smartphone in the world now. To get a large sector of consumers, Apple announced iPhone 11.

iPhone 11 Design

It features glass and anodized aluminum design along with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display like the XR. The phone is also available in six attractive shades Lavender, White, Black, Yellow, Green, and Product Red. The device has dimensions of 150.9mm x 75.7mm x 8.3mm and weighs 194 grams. It’s also water-resistant with an IP68 rating meaning users can take it in the shower as it can sustain in up to two meters deep water. However, there is no 3.5mm jack on the device.

There is a bigger focus on the camera this time. It has two rear cameras — a 12-megapixel sensor paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera for expansive landscapes. The ultra-wide has 120 degrees of field view. Users can now see what the wider lens is capturing when they are framing a shot with the primary camera as the camera app UI has been tweaked for this. For processing better skin tones, highlights, shadows, optical zoom, and portrait effects, Apple updated its imaging algorithms.

Apple introduced a new Night Mode for light conditions. The Night Mode turns on automatically when the iPhone 11 determines its dark enough to take a picture. In comparison to Google’s Night Sight, Apple showed some samples of it. For low-light images, it opens the lens for a longer period to let more light in and then use noise reduction to clean up the resulting image.

Apple also introduced a new video recording feature QuickTake which will make it easier to record videos by long-pressing the camera shutter button. Both the lenses support 4K at 60fps, Slo-mo, Timelapse and Cinematic Video Stabilization. While recording video users can easily switch between standard to the wide-angle lens and vice versa. Apple claims that they have the “highest quality video recording in a smartphone.”

12-megapixel TrueDepth camera

The front camera is a wide-angle with 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera. It will take 7-megapixel images usually, but if it turned to landscape orientation, users would get a wider shot at 12-megapixel. It also supports 4K 30fps video recording and Slo-mo.

The iPhone 11 is powered by the A13 Bionic processor which is the successor and even more powerful than iPhone XR A12 Bionic according to Apple. The company also mentioned that it’s not only the smartphone’s fastest CPU, but it also has the fastest GPU as well. According to the company, the iPhone 11 can deliver an hour more extended battery life than the iPhone XR. With more than 8.5 billion transistors, the A13 Bionic has a low-power design which makes it more power-efficient.

The device will be running on iOS 13 which has a system-wide Dark Mode for the first time. The company claimed that it comes with enhanced Face ID. However, it didn’t provide any information about facial unlocking technology. The iPhone 11 will be available in three internal storage options 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

The iPhone 11 will cost $699, $50 less than the XR. Users will be able to pre-order it, which will begin this Friday, September 13 at 5:00 am Pacific Time and will be available on September 20.
