Yes! You heard that right. The two most renowned largest tech companies, Apple and Google, have joined forces together to fight the life-threatening pandemic, Coronavirus. As we know, the situation due to the virus is getting worse day by day. The biggest reason behind the increasing Coronavirus cases is the lack of knowledge, which is why Apple and Google have decided to create a tracking app for Coronavirus to reduce the number of increasing cases all over the world.
This tracking app from Apple and Google will track the spread of the new Coronavirus, allowing users to share data through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transmissions and a bunch of approved apps from the health organizations. Both Apple and Google will introduce a pair of iOS and Android APIs in the middle of May and will make sure that the health authority apps can execute them. To describe the app in simple terms, check the image down below.
In a recent blog post, Google said,
Privacy, transparency, and consent are of utmost importance in this effort, and we look forward to building this functionality in consultation with interested stakeholders. We will openly publish information about our work for others to analyze.
They further said,
All of us at Apple and Google believe there has never been a more important moment to work together to solve one of the world’s most pressing problems. Through close cooperation and collaboration with developers, governments, and public health providers, we hope to harness the power of technology to help countries around the world slow the spread of COVID-19 and accelerate the return of everyday life.
The contact tracing on which this app is built helps in figuring out whether the infected person has been in contact with someone or not, to stop him from infecting others. Even though its a new program, Apple and Google are discussing with the public health authorities on its process and work.
