Google rolls out Android 11 Developer Preview 3 (DP3) for Pixel devices. It is the fifth build the company releases as the DP1 and DP2 had bug fix updates after their release. As the Preview is not stable, we will not recommend Pixel users to flash Developer Preview to their primary device.
The build comes with the changes which are for developers. The changes are:
- Apps could exit for different reasons. So, to understand why the app exited and what the state was at the time of exit, a new API has been introduced App exit reasons API.
- It requires a long time to install large APKs for which ABD (Android Debug Bridge) Incremental large APKs can be installed up to 10 times faster than earlier.
- DP3 also comes with revamped debugging experience through wireless ABD. With this, it would be more productive and don’t have to manage USB ports and a myriad of cables and connections.
This could be the final Developer Preview before the public beta release, and if you still want to install the Preview, then you need to flash the DP image. For those who are on Android 11 DP, they can update to DP3 via OTA update. The DP3 is only available for Pixel devices, which include Pixel 2, 3, 3a, or 4 devices.
